Protect your private files

Detected layout: Public document root (recommended).

Prefer serving only public/: private application directories then stay outside the document root. Apache must honor public/.htaccess; application-root hosting also requires the root .htaccess with AllowOverride All. Nginx, including frontends in front of Apache, needs equivalent hidden-file, upload and private-path restrictions; it does not honor .htaccess.

Simple hosting instructions and Nginx configuration

Checking private-file protection is required before installation. This uses harmless probe files, never your configuration or database contents.

    Step 2

    Application and database configuration

Detected from this installer’s address. Include /public or your installation subdirectory when present.

    Step 3

    First administrator

Use at least 12 characters. A long, unique passphrase is welcome; no arbitrary symbol or capitalization rules apply. Passwords are never redisplayed.

    Step 4

    Review and install

The installer requires an empty database, imports the canonical schema, and creates all onboarding records in one database transaction. If onboarding fails, installer-created tables are removed. The private environment and installation lock are finalized only after database success.

A probe check is a sample, not a full security audit. Ask your host to apply the linked rules if you use Nginx or are unsure. Installation stays blocked until the probes pass and you confirm.
